Geography
Bali is part of the Republic of Indonesia and is in the Indonesian Archipelago. It has an area of 5.632,86 square kilometers. Bali is divided into 9 districts: 8 regencies (Badung, Gianyar, Tabanan, Klungkung, Karangasem, Buleleng, Jembrana and Bangli) and one municipality Bali. Bali comprises of several smaller islands, Nusa Penida, Nusa Ceningan, Nusa Lembongan, Serangan Island and Menjangan Island. There are lots of mountains and lakes. The most important mountains, which are also volcanoes, are Gunung Agung and Gunung Batur and the most important lakes are Beratan, Buyan, Tamblingan and Batur. Bali’s capital city is Denpasar


Language
There are three languages spoken in Bali: Balinese, Indonesian and English, especially in touristic places and for business reasons


Population
People living in Bali are called Balinese. The population of Bali is about 3 million people and still increasing


Religion
The majority practice Hinduism. But there are followers of other religions as well, such as Muslims, Catholics and Buddhists. The most important festivals in Bali are Nyepi, Galungan and Saraswati.


Temperature
Bali has two seasons the dry season from April to October and the wet season from November to March. The higher average temperature during the dry season is 28°C and during the wet season 30°C
